Towards a statement of purpose: what we aim to do
Inner Sydney Regional Council for Social Development contributes to the creation of a sustainable and liveable community and urban environment for people in the Botany Bay, Leichhardt, Randwick, Sydney City, South Sydney, Waverley and Woollahra LGAs.

Our vision
To promote social justice and inclusion in the Inner/Central Sydney Region.

By the term ‘Inner/Central Sydney Region’ we mean the local government areas of Botany Bay, Leichhardt, Randwick, City of Sydney, Waverley and Woollahra.

Our statement of purpose
Regional Council supports, resources, informs and advocates for community organisations and groups to increase the capacity and resilience of disadvantaged communities and people in our region’

Our focus and work will be with community organisations and will relate to any issues that impact on disadvantaged groups and people including:

  • Access to community and human services
  • Urban environment and the impact of urban development
  • Public transport and community infrastructure

To ensure that whole communities are involved, we:

  • focus on supporting and resourcing those groups that are socially disadvantaged to become engaged in our communities

  • work with other agencies and groups to build partnerships.

We do this through:

  • community development

  • advocacy, campaigning and activism

  • resourcing the community through providing information

  • promoting social inclusion and social justice.
